Cultural Resource Maps
-
Regional maps of cultural resources are available for download by Regional
Development Centers in their secure ftp folders at
ftp://www.georgiaplanning.com. Archaeological sites, in general, are a
state-required 'natural and cultural resources' planning element according to
DCA Rules (Chapter 110-12-1-.04.). According to the Georgia Department of
Natural Resources' Rules for Environmental Planning Criteria (Chapter
391-3-16-.04.) certain archaeological sites are protected when within wetlands
and protected river corridors. Information for these maps were originally
compiled by the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF), located at the
University of Georgia Laboratory of Archaeology. Georgia Department of Natural
Resources- Historic Preservation Division, Office of the State Archaeologist
working with DCA has developed a generalized map of archaeological site
locations for general purpose community planning. These DCA derived maps
consists of those census blocks whick contained archaeological sites recorded
in the GASF. (6-14-2004)

Land Use Maps

Existing Land Use maps are submitted with plan Community Assessments; Future Development Maps and Future Land Use maps (if one was presented in the plan), are submitted with the plan Community Agenda. Generally, Existing and Future Land Use maps contain the land use categories prescribed in the Local Planning Requirements (DCA Rules Chapter 110-12-1); Future Development maps use Character Area categories that are defined but not restricted to those in the State Planning Recommendations. Please contact us to request maps for a specific local government.
