Geospatial Image Services

Instructions DCA provides Web-based geospatial image services for comprehensive planning purposes. These resources were created and are managed with ArcGIS Image Server. ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 is ready to consume these image services. ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 and 9.1 may also consume these image services but those versions require installation of free image server client software. The following links will provide the appropriate installation instructions and client download packages.

Visit the ESRI Support Center for the ArcGIS 9.1 or ArcGIS 9.2 client for ArcGIS Image Server. (You will be required to login to the ESRI Support Center to access these.)

After downloading and unzipping one of the image service reference files below use ArcCatalog to review it. If the image service reference file is not visible in ArcCatalog, use its 'Tools | Options' menu to add a new file type for image service references. Image service reference files have the extension *.ISRef in their name. Use ArcCatalog to drag-and-drop the image service reference file as a layer into ArcMap.

You can also use the 'Add Image Server Connections' button to add an image service to an ArcMap session (Server Name: 167.200.36.152). See ArcGIS Desktop Help and search on the topic "Opening an image service reference file" for instructions on both methods.
